Cricket in the mountains
Took this photo whilst in the small Dolomites in Italy, September 2007. Sometimes the macro function on the Canon Ixus IV can produce stunning results. This cricket...or is it a grasshopper?... refuse to pose unless we shot it from its good side. Insects, eh? They are so paranoid about their public images these days. I blame Jeff Goldblum.

Geotagging YouTube
Been thinking about opportunities using the mashup between Google Maps/Yahoo Maps and You Tube. We could put this to very good use especially for the Rallyoke project.
There's an OK example on virtualvideomap.com and a simple yet ugly attempt at anthemsonamap.com.
There's also a mock up of how this might look for us on Flickr

Flickr Badge
Flickr seem to bury the 'make your own badge' facilty.
Not sure why this is the case, they are normally so good. Finally found the link in their forums.

Mike Skinner
Someone has been doing some interesting things with bits of the guest presenter downloads for Radio 1's Zane Lowe show using the Odeo player. Below are a couple of clips taken from Mike Skinner's Myspace page and The Young Knives official site

Conejoes, Lapins and Rabbits
So, I have finally managed to register and bring to life the Nabaztag given to me for Christmas 2006.
The abundance of new "rabbits" in to the market over the festive season caused their server to keel over due to the rise in website traffic. Most of the business seems to be back to normal now.
It presence in the living room has been met with unequivocal joy. Its, or should that be his?, gently spinning ears, pulsating disco lights and eccentric behaviour are captivating. However, it is the rabbits' capacity to render messages typed in text to actual voice that has proved the most entertaining.
Having the rabbit recite the words to "Happy Birthday" to my girlfriend's Mum was met with jubilation all round. However, that was nothing compared to the arse-clenching conniptions of my next house guest when the little, white, plastic sweety called him the "fist fucking king of the golden ring". Thankfully all messages are free until 14 February. Disgusting and at no extra expense. First class.
Cutesy those these things may be the, potential to deliver audio and music via the Nabcast facility presents some interesting business opportunities. Unfortunately the MP3 upload functionality is not working at the moment. Once we are able to add audio files the experience should broaden immensely. The API looks fairly accessible too.
